Advancing Truth, Reconciliation, and Indigenous Relations

At the Winnipeg Centre of Hope, we are committed to truth, reconciliation and collaboration with Indigenous communities. Our top priority for our 2024-2027 Strategic Plan is developing an Indigenous relations strategy to enhance the experience of Indigenous community members. From offering internal cultural programming to developing partnerships with Indigenous organizations and governments, we are taking meaningful steps to create an environment that is embracing of Indigenous identity.

Overseeing this strategy is our Indigenous Relations Coordinator, who plays a pivotal role both internally and externally.

The Indigenous Relations Coordinator currently is available to meet with participants upon request in an effort to connect and build community within the centre. Furthermore, smudging is available both upon request and at recurring scheduled times in an effort to accommodate to the different needs of program participants.

She is also a leader in building long-term community partnerships with local Indigenous groups that offer resources not currently available in-house like Pow Wow club, sweat lodge ceremonies, traditional healing services, etc.
