  • I find myself unhoused and need shelter, how can I start using your services?If you are an individual looking for shelter, you can walk-in to our facility in 180 Henry Ave. or call our 24/7 intake line at (204) 946-9400 to check availability.

  • I am a Case Worker/Service Provider and I am looking for transitional housing for my client. How do I arrange a planned referral?
    Please call (204) 946-9400 to speak with the Winnipeg Centre of Hope Intake Team to explain the situation and the reasons for the client's homelessness. Based on the unique circumstances your client might be facing and availability of rooms, we might be able to accommodate them.

  • Can I walk in at any time and start accessing your services (specifically emergency/transitional housing) right away?
    Individuals without needing to plan referrals because of barrios can come to the door 24/7. If you would like to plan more supports for your stay, please call and plan an intake with the our intake team at (204) 946-9400.

  • Is there a minimum and/or maximum amount of time I need to use your services for?
    Everyone coming into our shelter starts working on exit goals right from day-one. You can access our shelter for as long as you need to achieve these goals, to a maximum stay of:

  • Emergency Shelter for up 3 months; Cold Weather Emergency Shelter (only operates during Winter season) 1 day at a time;

  • And Transitional Shelter for up to 18 months.

Sonrise Family Shelter FAQ

  • Me and my family find ourselves unhoused and need shelter, how can I start using your services?
    To be eligible to stay at SonRise Village Family Shelter, you must have at least 1 child under 18 accompanying you. We accept all genders and are happy to welcome additional adults, as long as they are all one family unit.
    To apply, please call (204) 946-9471. We do not accept walk-ins, so please call ahead.

  • I am a Case Worker/Service Provider and I am looking for temporary housing for my client and their family. How do I arrange a planned referral?
    Please call (204) 946-9471 to speak with a SonRise worker to explain the situation and the reasons for the client's homelessness. Based on the unique circumstances your client and their family might be facing and availability of suits, we might be able to accommodate them.

  • Can I walk in at any time and start accessing the SonRise Family Shelter services right away?
    We are unable to accommodate walk-ins at SonRise Family Shelter. Please call (204) 946-9471 first to begin the application process.

  • Is there a minimum and/or maximum amount of time I need to use your services for?
    There is no minimum amount of time that you need to stay at SonRise Family Shelter, but the maximum length of stay is 3 months.
