Transitional Rooms

Female-identifying individuals are provided with two exclusive floors, and their own elevator specifically for female-identifying participants. Some floors are designed for independence, and some have a community space on the floor. There are on average 70 female spaces available for the community at the Centre of Hope. 

Male-identifying individuals are provided with four exclusive floors, and an elevator that only operates in those floors. Some floors are designed for independence, and some have a community space. There are on average 118 male spaces available for the community at the Winnipeg Centre of Hope. 

Non-binary and Gender Diverse individuals are given the choice to stay on the floor they feel the most comfortable in. To ensure their safety and wellness, they are given access to a private, gender neutral washroom conveniently located on the floor of their preference. 

The Salvation Army Winnipeg Centre of Hope can make even more space available when there are needs within the community.

Transitional Shelter includes:

  • Floor checks and room checks are provided, to ensure safely and security.
  • Case Worker Services: goal setting and exit planning.​
  • Private rooms and your own room-key​
  • Mattress on a bedframe and bedding​
  • Every room has a window.​
  • Each room has its own thermos stat and smoke detector.​
  • Weekly housekeeping services​
  • Spiritual Care Team (when requested)​
  • Free laundry facilities and laundry soup provided.​
  • 3 meals a day​
  • Shared and Private Bathrooms for accessibility​
  • Personal hygiene items are also made available for free.​
  • Pay phones are on each floor.​
  • Air Conditioning

Please call 204-612-7999 to speak with the Winnipeg Centre of Hope Intake Team to explain the situation and the reasons for the client's homelessness. Based on the unique circumstances your client might be facing and availability of rooms, we might be able to accommodate them.

 

Individuals without needing to plan referrals because of barrios can come to the door 24/7. If you would like to plan more supports for your stay, please call and plan an intake with the our intake team at 204-612-7999.

Everyone coming into our shelter starts working on exit goals right from day-one. You can access our shelter for as long as you need to achieve these goals, to a maximum stay of:
  • Emergency Shelter  for up 3 months;
  • Cold Weather Emergency Shelter (only operates during Winter season) 1 day at a time;
  • And Transitional Shelter for up to 18 months.
